But isn’t it also true that the best offense is a good defense? Most of our problems stem from trying to maintain an Empire overseas; if we left them to their own devices, we wouldn’t rattle the hornet’s nest, and provoke them to attack us.
It seems to me that a big part of our problem in the US is the high percentage of our budget that is spent on the military. There are so many other ‘developed’ nations that don’t spend a fraction of what we do, so why don’t we just stop?
