But isn’t it also true that the best offense is a good defense? Most of our problems stem from trying to maintain an Empire overseas; if we left them to their own devices, we wouldn’t rattle the hornet’s nest, and provoke them to attack us.

I frankly find it fascinating that Obama ran on a campaign of “Yes We Can” make a difference in how Washington is managed, only then to make virtually no difference at all in his first year in office. Thoughts?

Of course they don’t spend as much, they don’t have to, because we remain ever-vigilant as the world’s police.

It seems to me that a big part of our problem in the US is the high percentage of our budget that is spent on the military. There are so many other ‘developed’ nations that don’t spend a fraction of what we do, so why don’t we just stop?
